Pit's Perfect BBQ - bringing American style BBQ to the Blue Mountains of NSW!
Pit's Perfect BBQ was established in 2016, after catching the BBQ bug at the end of 2015. Now competing, catering and teaching, the folks behind Pit's Perfect BBQ have spent many hours perfecting BBQ and have the trophies to prove it!
The Pit's Perfect competition team was created after a few beers one night (isn't that how all good decisions are made?!). In their first competition they took 1st in pork ribs - a terrific achievement after too many beers and not much sleep the previous night. They also managed a 7th in grain fed brisket which was also impressive for such a tough category. Their second competition at Kangaroo Valley saw them again score the highest in pork ribs, however were given the second prize on a count back. They just missed out on a call up in brisket, coming in 4th. By now their confidence was sky rocketing and BBQ had become all they could think about!
2017 saw some huge changes for the Pit’s Perfect BBQ team, first and foremost the birth of the beautifl Hogpit smoker trailer, affectionately known as “Fat Amy”. Pit’s Perfect also started offering catering and attended lots of local markets and other events selling their now very well known BBQ. The rest of the 2017 comp year saw lots of highs and a few lows with some fantastic results in chicken, ribs and brisket. The only categories we weren't able to master were lamb and pork - a definite goal for 2018! Pit’s Perfect finished 30th out of about 300 teams - a great outcome for a new team.
2018 was another great year for the team - finally nailing lamb and pork, but ironically being let down many times by pork ribs. The biggest achievements for the year was 3rd place at Sydney Meatstock and brisket champion at Smokin in the Valley. The competition became seriously tough this year, and the team placed 29th at the end of the year. Our Pitmaster Linda, also started working at Fire and Brimstone BBQ restaurant in Castle Hill. Now, armed with the knowledge and experience of working in a commercial kitchen, Linda offers BBQ consulting and one on one lessons for up and coming pitmasters.
2019 is going to be a huge year for the team, with the production of their delicious homemade BBQ sauce in the works, the girls are going to be as busy as ever!
